“Crop to fill” trims the edges evenly around the centre to reach the exact shape. “Fit entire image” keeps everything visible and adds white or transparent space.
Higher quality keeps more detail and usually creates a larger file.
Your original file is unchanged. Need a KB limit instead? Use the compressor.
How it works

Why dimensions matter
A photo that looks perfect on a phone can still be wrong for a website, a social post, or an application form. A website might need a 1200-pixel-wide image that loads quickly. A profile picture may need a square crop. An exam portal may require an exact 100 × 120-pixel JPEG under a strict file-size limit. In each case, the target frame and the file limit matter as much as the original photo.
PhotoResize gives you two kinds of control. The general image resizer sets exact pixel dimensions and lets you crop or fit the photo without stretching it. The KB compressor handles file-size limits separately. For Indian exam forms, the exam presets combine both, adding a draggable crop and a search for a JPEG quality inside the required range.
Resizing is not magic. Making an image smaller usually looks clean; making a small image much larger cannot restore detail that was never captured. Start with the best original you have, target the smallest dimensions that meet the requirement, and choose a sensible output format. The guide to dimensions and aspect ratios explains the trade-offs with worked examples.
Questions
Choose an image in the resizer at the top of this page, enter the width and height in pixels, and select “Resize image”. The processed file downloads directly from your browser. There is no account, payment, or upload step.
No. The resizer reads the file, draws it to a canvas, and encodes the output in your browser. Your image is not sent to PhotoResize or a third-party server by the tool.
Yes. Enter the exact width and height you need. You can lock the original aspect ratio to avoid distortion, or choose crop-to-fill or fit-entire-image when the target shape is different.
The resizer accepts JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, and HEIF input. You can download the result as JPG, PNG, or WebP. HEIC conversion happens locally and loads only when a HEIC file is selected.
Use the image compressor. It searches for a JPEG quality that fits targets such as 20KB, 50KB, or 100KB, and can reduce dimensions if the file is still too large. The exam presets combine exact pixels with a required KB range.
Yes. The exam preset pages include specific pixel and KB requirements, a draggable cropper, and a file-size search. Every exam preset is marked unverified, so confirm the current values in the official notification before submitting a form.
